Here is what Sulia wrote about her experience: <div><br /></div><div> "On Friday on the 5th of August we got the opportunity to go and learn about trees and pests to protect the birds, trees, kiwis and ETC. In the morning we got to meet Chris, and Chris started to explain everything like how the traps work and how to use them.
After Chris explained everything we had a quick morning tea because the bus was waiting outside for us. </div><div><br /></div><div>When we got into the bus we had to wait for 20 min and then we made it to Cornwall park. It was so beautiful, relaxing and very fun to look at.
First we took a quick look at the map then we split up into 2 groups, one group went with Lisa and Charlie and the other group went with Chris. My group went with Charlie and Lisa first and the other group went with Chris/ Lisa and Charlie took my group for a walk and told us some facts about trees. After we took a little walk we saw a tree with spider-webs and it looked like a Halloween tree instead of a Christmas tree. </div><div><br /></div><div>Later on we had to switch with the other group which meant the other group goes with Lisa and Charlie and my group goes with Chris.
First we had a look at one of the traps and one of the traps had the peanut butter licked off and we saw that the pest spit out some of the peanut butter. We also took a look at some of the other traps but it was all empty. But we found out that the pest that ate the peanut butter was a rat.
After taking a look at all the traps we all got some binoculars and tried to look for some birds. I saw a Fan Tail. It looked so beautiful and relaxed. After that we ate our lunch and played some games afterwards, then the bus arrived to pick us up.</div><div><br /></div><div> After another 20 min we made it to school. We took a pest test and some of us got mixed up with all of the questions.
Later on we made our own tracking tunnels and some of us like me wanted to set our own outside. After that we went back home to rest. It was a really great experience."</div>MrBellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04611026179623798423noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8727724858028697247.post-27519208036894418562022-06-28T10:13:00.002+12:002022-06-28T10:13:04.992+12:00Learning About Matariki<p> </p>

Room 7 have had quite a few students away with illness and we're still in Traffic Light Orange so our games have had to be within our bubbles. Nevertheless, with the guidance of Coaches Lucas and Chelsea from Kelly Sports we have made the most of this special occasion. </p><p>Here are a few photos of one of our games:</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; In the morning we attended School Mass under our canopy, but we weren't able to sing our hymns due to the Red Restrictions. One member from each class brought a Four Leaf Clover and hung them on our Offertory Tree . </p><p>Here are some photos of our Morning Mass:</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOCNP5NHM0x7eS8ChJprrqwvPC1uEPAe8vNsMqIQXkKevgUD91OPEPnqaCIN2smwFNAim2Oqfkqb92EOWbmPw0fJ2bqeeyHgCfidoDCGq5bE6fJWdNSEu215U3OjVCzM2dqEwGvSahmopXhhPjM5binl9U8x20dREweW7ZMCGlA9tE_qxdagR-fiKdQw/s3468/20220318_090621_resized.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2601" data-original-width="3468" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOCNP5NHM0x7eS8ChJprrqwvPC1uEPAe8vNsMqIQXkKevgUD91OPEPnqaCIN2smwFNAim2Oqfkqb92EOWbmPw0fJ2bqeeyHgCfidoDCGq5bE6fJWdNSEu215U3OjVCzM2dqEwGvSahmopXhhPjM5binl9U8x20dREweW7ZMCGlA9tE_qxdagR-fiKdQw/s320/20220318_090621_resized.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZiRm8u3uEDO7rzWcmay81RUohlhE9eJNrY3EQCW2NKhcABmMiEEJyZGQkvHi4dZOVBxiOUpwZglhiC8bKSO6sB1t26ZV78XQjJAy-fvjiBrShCcLx1sgrFy3RxqMQGsRmfjrAYB7bQcf-u-IiYMm-Andesv1NxI_PVy0jFB-BVzpn-tIJBiygM2RG9A/s3468/20220318_090636_resized.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2601" data-original-width="3468" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZiRm8u3uEDO7rzWcmay81RUohlhE9eJNrY3EQCW2NKhcABmMiEEJyZGQkvHi4dZOVBxiOUpwZglhiC8bKSO6sB1t26ZV78XQjJAy-fvjiBrShCcLx1sgrFy3RxqMQGsRmfjrAYB7bQcf-u-IiYMm-Andesv1NxI_PVy0jFB-BVzpn-tIJBiygM2RG9A/s320/20220318_090636_resized.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMkd_R8twNGAHMnzxdVPeRdsNd6yz7Y74y252IipiXp6CFQhrRrP_KBgeOap4dN5neG6RKFf90rVfo9gy3NpEm0AiiWyCyvSighj9_tj_gqGhAaz2At6OhQ_a1SOCDx_MiAgbFM9zopdJhYFtTNxuUEaqJIOKXKNIazVlnFVYy_2gx-ECAuWofMj9BAQ/s3468/20220318_092013_resized.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2601" data-original-width="3468" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMkd_R8twNGAHMnzxdVPeRdsNd6yz7Y74y252IipiXp6CFQhrRrP_KBgeOap4dN5neG6RKFf90rVfo9gy3NpEm0AiiWyCyvSighj9_tj_gqGhAaz2At6OhQ_a1SOCDx_MiAgbFM9zopdJhYFtTNxuUEaqJIOKXKNIazVlnFVYy_2gx-ECAuWofMj9BAQ/s320/20220318_092013_resized.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLDpl4WUTt94_WY_wCeUDnwkjUZbIWc8HQM-QhTcdVk5YAcmCi7I9DoZVkxc-Dz8BkiXIKp20z1wHKXkHQiDTeN3_dsbAtc7ESyZR5OPsc3PuFi-1mRzegGGfL7WvPMcSt2sW17vlWwHi43ja9QsWHpO-nkpNrbByyfsdDgtDHgMMQ_9lB5P-56jgSeg/s4624/20220318_092018.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3468" data-original-width="4624" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLDpl4WUTt94_WY_wCeUDnwkjUZbIWc8HQM-QhTcdVk5YAcmCi7I9DoZVkxc-Dz8BkiXIKp20z1wHKXkHQiDTeN3_dsbAtc7ESyZR5OPsc3PuFi-1mRzegGGfL7WvPMcSt2sW17vlWwHi43ja9QsWHpO-nkpNrbByyfsdDgtDHgMMQ_9lB5P-56jgSeg/s320/20220318_092018.jpg" width="320" /></a><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dwqwUics1cTzTd8fbGg0uBNHZ0Fix4WzrUCT4IHcV9f8RSWddE3hBhTgTlGyfY3RwXPsFsI8ujgQkSSFrOQ5Q' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div><br /></div><br /><p><br /></p>MrBellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04611026179623798423noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8727724858028697247.post-85189297327835448422022-03-04T08:02:00.006+13:002022-03-04T08:02:54.221+13:00Lunchtime Learning. <p> Room 7 have been discussing healthy eating habits including the importance of eating breakfast and choosing good "fuel" to provide good energy. Our class wanted to try it too!"</span></span></p><p><span style="background-color: white; color: #222222;"><span style="font-family: arial;">Students were excited to attempt making puppets, but they initially felt a bit anxious with HOW to make them and WHAT to use. Room 7 have been learning, all year, about using questioning to help us understand things better and make decisions that will help us. With the help of YouTube and Google they found instructions, but some of them didn't have the right materials to make them. Thankfully their whanau were able to help these students and they improvised, using other materials. </span></span></p><p><span style="background-color: white; color: #222222;"><span style="font-family: arial;">Here is a screenshot of our Google Meet this morning. There were two zoom meetings and one was hosted at ten o’clock and the other at eleven o’clock. Mister Bell told our class at our google meet that the Black Ferns were hosting a zoom meeting and the public could join if they had the link. </span></p><p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt; white-space: pre-wrap;">Mister Bell added the link onto our daily timetable. Some of us were really excited to meet them and ask the Black Ferns questions. It was organised because September is the month of the Rugby World Cup. This huge sporting event is being held over thirteen different places across the United Kingdom. Everywhere, everyone is getting warmed up to watch it. Everyone mostly went to the eleven o’clock zoom meeting. It ended at eleven thirty three.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt; white-space: pre-wrap;">The Black Ferns who were at the Rugby Zoom Meeting were Eloise Blackwell, Vania Wolfgramm, Ruahei Demant, Liana Mikaele Tu’u, and Mai Kawana Aulani Roos. The questions that our class asked were, “What inspired you to join rugby?” “What dance moves do you know?” “What is your favourite smoothie?” I don’t think any of the Black Ferns answered our questions, but it is okay. The Black Ferns were talking about their culture, where they live, their hobbies, and what they like. </span></p><p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt; white-space: pre-wrap;">After the Zoom meetings, everyone was happy because the Black Ferns’ fans and supporters got to know more about some of the Black Ferns. Next time when this happens again, maybe most of the class will go to the zoom meeting!</span></p><span id="docs-internal-guid-1ffb6d06-7fff-5c7d-681d-f32ca975f4c8"><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKtOoJQVcW6f9hhPAt5Crjof-sTj6CNLOqhCpiHbAnw6WQUj5ka6BNeO5lXLuc7ky2H7r7fU5MIoR4g3NCR07iSlTCZPDQHGWs-0yKj6Ywlx4CCv9602Xq7QLNFf0wvbUgSDLHxfrvdQBg/s1109/Screen+Shot+2021-09-10+at+10.36.00+AM.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="761" data-original-width="1109" height="440" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKtOoJQVcW6f9hhPAt5Crjof-sTj6CNLOqhCpiHbAnw6WQUj5ka6BNeO5lXLuc7ky2H7r7fU5MIoR4g3NCR07iSlTCZPDQHGWs-0yKj6Ywlx4CCv9602Xq7QLNFf0wvbUgSDLHxfrvdQBg/w640-h440/Screen+Shot+2021-09-10+at+10.36.00+AM.png" width="640" /></a></div><br /><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><br /></span></div></span>MrBellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04611026179623798423noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8727724858028697247.post-65551450670748866202021-08-31T09:59:00.001+12:002021-08-31T09:59:05.532+12:00Safe And Sound In Lockdown<p> As we head into another 2 weeks of Distance Learning, Room 7 have decided to make our morning Meets more fun. MRS GREN has been helping us as well, to understand what criteria life must fit into. </p><p>At the beginning of last term we had 3 tiny creatures hatch but then they disappeared. Because we never saw anything moving in the water for the next week we assumed they must have died. This told us we were doing something wrong in how we cared for them. Our hypothesis was that our classroom was too cold for them, or that direct sunlight hurt them and they died. </p><p>By starting over with our tank in a different spot in the classroom, out of direct sunlight, we are finally seeing some good results as many have hatched and happily swim around the tank while Room 7 learn more about them. </p><p>We have learned that these creatures are brine shrimp, who like to live in warm conditions, eat algae and move using their feather-like fins on the sides of their bodies. One surprising discovery is that they actually don't look anything like monkeys at all!</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dz27AEXQ6qNU2jehKgMkQvIm0vKxshj_q4eLZb3Jy_3p_ehpFgjE1IUxjL5jXnlVTbdSTlXs8fG2FGKznL3eQ' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">-Good morning!</div><br /><br /><p></p><p><br /></p>MrBellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04611026179623798423noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8727724858028697247.post-20712885127377050092021-06-23T08:03:00.007+12:002021-06-23T08:03:40.346+12:00Water Skills For Life with SwimMagic<p> For the past two weeks all Saint Patrick's students have participated in the Water Skills For Life programme delivered by the wonderful people at SwimMagic, CLM The Bays. They've had a fabulous time, learning important aquatic skills to help them stay safe in and around water. </p><p>I'd like to thank GAAAP, and SwimMagic for making this experience one that all of our children will treasure. </p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYhNQrnLoI8TKhhZKNynhqniQBn6AbTONAPFhXZzKlrEK9-g73pEGyslDpi9sbaWxSZ6SU9cE_8bN8lukIgy3P2pwPRd8zPIXWMBDfZdvaWOGzk7CFRbRBpjFvRqCSWGsxFc2huhshd-u2/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYhNQrnLoI8TKhhZKNynhqniQBn6AbTONAPFhXZzKlrEK9-g73pEGyslDpi9sbaWxSZ6SU9cE_8bN8lukIgy3P2pwPRd8zPIXWMBDfZdvaWOGzk7CFRbRBpjFvRqCSWGsxFc2huhshd-u2/w640-h480/Swimming+TY+Cards.jpeg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><br /><p></p>MrBellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04611026179623798423noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8727724858028697247.post-11918272495732480382021-04-05T07:57:00.021+12:002021-04-15T08:03:18.409+12:00Mitey Sessions<p> Today our learners have been exploring the story of "Tumeke Tui" during our Mitey sessions. Here's what went down, according to Jamie:</p><p><br /></p><p dir="ltr" style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small; line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-left: 36pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">First, we went under the canopy and had our mass/assembly. We didn’t go to the Church because there was still Covid- 19 level restrictions. After the assembly we first lined up in our houses and Mrs Bullot was calling our names to sort us into new teams. She said the team's name, and then their leader, co leader, and the other people in their team. Mrs Bullot said if you hear the bell ring, (the one with a stick at the top of it.) you have to go to the next game.</span></p><p><br style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;" /></p><p dir="ltr" style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small; line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-left: 36pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">After that, my team went to the field to play Mister Bell’s game called Golden Child. He told our team that he was borrowing that Ki O Rahi kit, so we had to be careful not to break it. I showed some of the little people how to play the game, they learned quickly. We had a lot of fun in Mister Bell’s game. We heard the bell ringing, so we walked to the next game.</span></p><p><br style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;" /></p><p dir="ltr" style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small; line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-left: 36pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">The next game was Miss Kyle’s one, in the top court. We saw that there were hoops on the metal wires around the court. She showed us that the numbers game and if she said a particular number, we could go and get the basketball to the person who could shoot, our person was Nixcent. We dribbled the ball and passed it to the person who could shoot. That was really fun! Then the bell rang again. </span></p><p><br style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;" /></p><p dir="ltr" style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small; line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-left: 36pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">We went to the last three, they were bowling, relays and the three legged race! Those that I mentioned were my favorite games. After that, the teachers had a surprise for us. It was Popsicles! My favorite treat. The team leaders gave each one of us a popsicle. It was very delicious, I licked it very slowly because I haven’t had popsicles for a long time now.</span></p><p><br style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;" /></p><p dir="ltr" style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small; line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-left: 36pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">In the afternoon we were tired but we came back to class but we were really happy that each of us got some popsicles.</span></p><p dir="ltr" style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small; line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-left: 36pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Our teacher, Mister Bell said that we could have free time.</span></p><p><br style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;" /></p><p dir="ltr" style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small; line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-left: 36pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Mister Bell showed us some new games like, Knuckle bones, Pick up the sticks and Stop the bus. My favorite game was Pick up the sticks because you have to try to pick the black stick up but without moving the other sticks. Saint Patrick’s day was really fun and exciting. Next Patrick’s day will be the best as well!</span></p>MrBellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04611026179623798423noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8727724858028697247.post-9861098278898460602021-02-25T08:37:00.005+13:002021-02-25T08:40:52.411+13:00Finding Maths In Everyday Life<p>Students in Room 7 have been working on understanding how different types of mathematics feature in our lives.
