It was a very tiring day! By Xyril

On Saturday the 3rd of July, my family and I decided to clean our house. We used blue microfibre towels, sweeping brushes and dust pans. The house was really dirty!

I started in the kitchen. My mum told me to mop the whole kitchen until it was colourless. Of course, my mum was joking. She meant she want it to be spot less. It only took me 5 minutes to clean before it looked quite good, so I rinsed the towel and went to the bathroom to mop the floor.

The bathroom was a small place so it took me less than two minutes to wipe the floor of the bathroom. Soon the bathroom floor was sparkling clean. Then my mum told me to wipe the floor of my bedroom.

I wiped my bedroom's floor and had a hard time doing it because there were a lot of hard to reach places. I had to mop underneath my bunk bed that my sister and I sleep's on. I had to hold on to the ladder and wipe with my feet. After that, I had to go under the bed to wipe the corners. Finally, after that I was done.

My favourite part of the day was when I mopped the bathroom because that was the fastest room for me to clean. It was very tiring. I think I might try dragging the towels to be more efficient next time.

Learning Intention: We are learning to follow the structure of a recount.
Success Criteria: I know I can do this when I write the orientation, followed by the events and then the conclusion of my day cleaning up the house.

New weekend, new friends! By Matej

On Saturday, my little sister, mom, dad and I went to have some lunch with our friends. I met some new friends named Kyle and Shiday. Kyle and Shiday’s mom is from Croatia and their dad is from New Zealand. However, Shiday and Kyle look like kiwi children so they take after their dad. We went to a restaurant and we had some bread and some potatoes with pork. Our friends were Vatroslav, Jelena, Sanja, Goran, Ivana Mirko, Lili Katarina, Mila, Kyle, Shiday, and others. There were a lot of us there. Altogether there were 30 people at the gathering. Shiday, Kyle and I played some games. We played rock, paper, scissors for 30 minutes. The person who wins can tell the person who loses to do anything that they wanted them to do. After that, we had a race and it was funny because we all ran slowly to get to the finish line. We played Geometric race on Shiday’s phone. We all took turns and we all had five minutes to play the game. Shiday, my mom and I have the same phone! We all have SAMSUNG GALAXY S4. After the game, I felt thirsty and so I drank some coca cola and ate some chips. We played together for six hours and we left their house at 9:45 at night. When we arrived at home, it was already 10:32pm. I brushed my teeth quickly and went to bed after 10 minutes. My favourite part was when I was finally home because I had a lot of fun playing with my new friends, so I was exhausted.

The view from the top was beautiful! By Punipuao

Screenshot 2016-08-01 at 10.18.40.png

On Saturday 23rd of July 2016, my family and I went to Rotorua for the school holidays. We packed up our bags the night before and  we went to sleep at 7 o'clock in the evening so we can all wake up early in the morning. We were all excited to go for a great adventure. My alarm clock went off at 4 o'clock in the morning and we all woke up and got dressed. Just before the sun rose, we were already on the road.

I slept in the car because it was still too early for me. Our dad used a GPS to guide us to get to Rotorua. Along the way, we stopped over for breakfast. I ate two Joseph Parker burger combo from Burger King. I had a crispy chicken burger and a big Hawaiian burger. Altogether they cost five dollars. Not bad eh!

Later on, we arrived in Rotorua and my dad parked our car outside our hotel called, "The Freshening Hotels of Rotorua." At the back of the hotel, there was a large swimming pool for kids and a spa pool for the adults to relax in. We checked in and deposited our bags in our room. I couldn't wait to get changed into my swimming gear so I could jump into the pool.  My siblings and I were in the pool while our parents went to the spa pool. We were having so much fun!

Then, my family and I decided that it was time to get off the pool so we could go to the Sky line. We all took a gondola to get up the mountain. However, I felt frightened that the gondola wires might snap when we're way at the top. I used my bag to cover my eyes from looking outside but my dad told me to just relax and enjoy the view. He reassured me that we will all be fine then I started to feel calm. Eventually, we got there! Yay!  I was amazed seeing the beautiful view of the forest down below and the spectacular view of Rotorua from the mountain top.
After a while,  my family and I went on the luge. I grabbed a medium sized green helmet for head protection. Then a man showed us how to ride the luge safely. First we had to push the lever forward for it to move and then pull the lever backwards for the brake.

When I was ready, I drove past the woods that had tall trees, and some willow trees(a kind of tree that has branches spread around and you can build a treehouse on it because it is a very  strong tree).  I took 19 sharp turns before I suddenly had to slow down due to a steep track which can be dangerous. When I got to the finish line, I took my luge back up to the top of the mountain by travelling on the chair lift. When my family and I got back to the top, my mum took photos of us again on her samsung S7 phone and I used my android ipod to take photos as well.
After that, I went to the jelly bean store and bought 5 triangle packets, two of the packets were filled with raspberry jelly beans and the three others were blueberry jelly beans. I gave some to my family and they all said, "Thank you for the jelly beans!"

As we were heading back to the hotel, we said, "Thank you for the rides!" Then we took the gondola down to the bottom of the mountain. It was an extremely fantastic day full of so much fun and adventure!

My favourite part of the day was when I rode on the gondola because the view from the top was magnificent and awesome!

Learning Intention: We are learning to understand and follow the correct structure of a recount.
Success Criteria: I know I can do this when I write an introduction, followed by the events, then a conclusion about my family and I going on the skyline.

Guess who I saw? By Justice

In the weekend, my sisters and I went to Sylvia Park with my cousin, so that she could get a manicure and a pedicure for her school ball. While they were at the counter talking to a lady, I walked in and out of the store listening to the music on my cousin's ipod. I was singing along to the beat of the pop music.

After my cousin sat on the chair to have her pedicure, I walked outside the store and I saw Rosary and her siblings. I said, "Hi Rosary!" and I asked her if she would be coming to school on Monday. Rosary replied, "Yes!" Then I walked over to my cousin while my sisters went to the Lovisa store to get my cousin's jewellery for her. I was sitting beside her discussing her pedicure with her.

As soon as the lady had finished my cousin's pedicure, my sisters  came back. They stayed for a while to see what the lady was going to do next. The lady filed and buffed my cousin's nails so that they are smooth. My sisters went to a different store to look for  a purse that would match my cousin's blue dress.

Before it was time for us to go, my cousin went to wash her hands and took off the store slippers. She felt extremely nervous because it was her first time putting on fake nails and painting her toes.  My sisters and I were very happy that she had a manicure and pedicure for her school ball the next day.

We all said, "Thank you!" to the lady because she made my cousin look beautiful.

My favourite part was when the lady had finished the manicure because they looked really shiny.

Learning Intention: We are learning to understand and use descriptive language in our recounts.
Success Criteria: I know I can do this when I use adjectives to describe my cousin having her manicure and pedicure.

Do you have a chromebook? By Rosary

On the 5th of August, my mum, brother, sister and I went to Sylvia Park to go shopping for a brand new laptop for my brother. We went there in my mum's car and it took us about 40 minutes because of the traffic. I was eager to buy something for myself too!

Image result for sylvia parkWhen we arrived at Sylvia Park we quickly found a parking spot  and walked to Noel Leeming that was right next to Warehouse stationery and The Warehouse extra. We looked for laptops that were new yet reasonably priced. Unfortunately, we did not find one that was affordable and would suit our budget so we decided to look at chromebooks instead.

While my mum and brother looked at chromebooks, I quickly walked around just to browse and see what else to they have in store. I saw a Samsung tablet and I played  with it. It was quite a big tablet and it came in white and was rock solid. I wish that I could own one for myself  but I knew that it's not a priority at the moment. Finally,  my mum and brother purchased the chromebook with a red soft chromebook case. I felt very jealous because his chromebook was way better than mine. However, I'm happy for him because he really needs it for his media studies.

Later on, we went to The Warehouse. I went my sister all the way to the back where the stationery aisle was . I grabbed a 3B1 notebook that was green because I needed a new one and my sister looked for some stationery too.

Then my brother and I went to aisle number 12 to look at the different types of balls for sale. There were basketballs, soccer balls, rugby balls, netball balls, cricket balls and so much more. I played with an orange and black basketball and it was very bouncy. My mum took our shopping items  to the self-checkout and paid for them while my siblings and I helped her place the items in bags. I was so excited to use my new green notebook for school.

Eventually, we had to go home. I felt a bit unhappy because I wanted to buy some more things for myself but my mum said, "Not this time, Rosary."   My favourite part was buying myself a new pretty notebook.

Dinocroc is very scary! By Soane

Image result for Dinosaur rescue bookIn the of dinosaur rescue a boy called Arg and his pet Krik-Krik went on a hunt with Arg's dad and some cavemen to hunt Dinocrock. Arg and the cavemen went on their boats looking for Dinocrock. All of a sudden, Dinocrock jumped out of the water and broke all the boats except for Arg's. When their boats were smashed into little pieces, all the cavemen swam back to the shore but Arg's dad and Krik-Krik swam to a rock. Dinocrock stuck his head out of the water and went closer and closer to Arg's dad and Krik-Krik.

When Dinocrock was close enough, he opened his mouth wide and Arg jumped onto his back and stabbed him with his spear. Arg's dad and Krik-Krik cheered for Arg because he killed Dinocrock

My favourite part was when Arg killed Dinocrock because Arg is only 12 years old and Dinocrock is a legend dinosaur.
